Iraqi government calls for an Arab, Islamic and regional movement to prevent genocide in Palestine

The Iraqi government called today, Wednesday, for an Arab, Islamic and regional movement to prevent genocide in Palestine, while renewing its support for the cause of the Palestinian people and urging all international bodies to open the way for medical and food aid and humanitarian relief efforts.
 
Government spokesman Basim Al-Awadi said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): that “The Iraqi government is closely monitoring the developments in Gaza and the occupied territories of Palestine, especially the recent escalation of Zionist aggression on Rafah, resulting in the martyrdom of many women, children, and innocent civilians. This situation calls for an exceptional Arab and regional stance, and it is imperative that the international community and its organizations take responsibility and make greater efforts to stop the criminal bloodshed of our Palestinian people.
 
From this standpoint, Iraq calls for a responsible Arab, Islamic, and regional movement at the popular and official levels, as well as by all voices that can exert pressure, to put an end to the blatant disregard for international and humanitarian norms, to prevent the ongoing genocide, and to avoid the irresponsible spread of conflict in the region, which would plunge it into an endless cycle of violence.
 
Iraq highly appreciates the recent positions of several friendly countries that have recognized the State of Palestine on its historic land. This recognition stands in clear contrast to the indifferent policies of certain international powers that have either supported the aggression or remained silent, with some even going so far as to justify these crimes.
 
The Iraqi government reiterates its unwavering support for the Palestinian cause and calls on all international bodies and concerned governments to take immediate action to facilitate the entry of medical and food aid, as well as humanitarian relief teams.
 
We salute the steadfastness of our resilient Palestinian people and extend our prayers for mercy and forgiveness for the victims of the occupation forces.
