In response to three restaurants in the capital, Baghdad, being targeted, Interior Minister Abdul Amir Al-Shammari on Monday ordered a number of actions.
"After the attacks that took place on three restaurants, during the past 48 hours, Interior Minister Abdul Amir Al-Shammari inspected the places of these attacks, accompanied by the commander of Baghdad operations, the undersecretary of police affairs and a number of commanders, general managers and officers, as the minister supervised their reopening," read a statement from the Ministry of Interior that the Iraqi News Agency (INA).
"A number of suspects in these crimes have been arrested by the security services, and ongoing searches are being conducted in accordance with precise intelligence information regarding the remaining individuals involved in this illegal act," the statement stated.
"The Minister of Interior directed a number of measures, including punishing negligent forces ," it said, citing the dismissal of one of the brigade commanders, his placement in detention, the formation of an investigative board against him. "Taking firm measures in any sector where attacks occur," was emphasized by the interior minister.
