The Najaf Criminal Court sentenced a drug dealer to life in prison on Wednesday.
In a statement obtained by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), the Supreme Judicial Council declared that "a convict for the crime of trafficking in narcotic substances was given a life sentence by the Najaf Criminal Court."
"The verdict was issued in accordance with the provisions of Article 28 / first of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law No. 50 of 2017," it continued, adding that "the convict was seized in possession of a quantity of four thousand narcotic tablets of methylamphetamine."
